Sidney Poitier, 92, paved the Bahamian-American actors’ lane. He was globally known, performed from several theatres, and was an actress won the Academy on-screen. He was the first African-American star to receive a coveted honor. When he retired, he chose to try filming, directing, and ultimately becoming a diplomat. He’s been granted British knighthood. He also earned a Presidential Independence Award. He was still in front about bigotry, heading numerous charity activities.
